The Canadian RegTech Association welcomes Wendy Rudd as newest Board Member

5/1/2019

TORONTO, May 1st, 2019 – The Canadian Regulatory Technology Association (CRTA) / Association canadienne de la technologie réglementaire (ACTR) is pleased to welcome innovative securities industry leader Wendy Rudd to the CRTA Board of Directors, joining Co-chairs Donna Bales and Matt Elton.

The CRTA brings together all actors in the Canadian RegTech ecosystem, including regulators, regulated entities and technology firms to facilitate dialogue, raise standards and promote growth and innovation. As a neutral party sitting at the intersection among the various stakeholders, the CRTA seeks to
support the use of technology to make compliance easier, and more efficient and effective.

Commenting on these appointments, Donna Bales said, “Wendy is well-recognized for her innovative and thoughtful approach and has driven significant change in modernizing regulatory policy and oversight in Canada. This is the type of thinking and positive energy we want on the Board to help us elevate the level of conversation and collaboration within the Canadian RegTech ecosystem.”

Matt Elton added, “To be an effective board we need to cover a number of perspectives. Wendy's leadership experience in our key stakeholder groups – Financial Institutions, Regulators and Technology – will complement our own, making her an ideal choice.”

Wendy Rudd

Wendy brings a wealth of regulatory and industry experience from both the regulated entity and regulator perspective. Most recently, as a senior executive at the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC), she was instrumental in modernizing the regulation of Canadian equity- and debt markets, as well as the conduct- and prudential regulation of investment dealers.  Wendy’s past positions include her role as Partner - Capital Markets for Capco, Chief Executive Officer at TriAct Canada Marketplace, and senior management roles in business development at ITG Canada, CIBC World Markets and the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Wendy Rudd said, “I am delighted to join the CRTA at such a seminal time for the industry.  In my role at IIROC I witnessed first hand the challenges facing the industry, and how technology can create efficiencies and enhance the client experience.  I look forward to helping the CRTA achieve its very important goals.”
