As governments around the world struggled to keep up with an ever-advancing digital world, the need to address individual privacy as it relates to the collection of personal information and the use of artificial intelligence became evident. The Canadian government introduced Bill C-27 as its second attempt to replace the outdated PIPEDA and provide regulatory oversight to protect individual privacy rights. As organizations update their policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the new legislation, some areas will prove more challenging than others. In this discussion, the panelists will consider the impact of Bill C-27 on innovation, the potential challenges organizations may face and how to prepare from a best practice and tooling perspective.
